My Personal Goals

My personal goals often are changing but I have a number of long term goals. I want to master playing the guitar. I have been playing guitar for 14 years but still have a lot to learn. I also want to join a band. This Friday I am auditioning to be a singer and backup guitar player for a rock band in Toronto.

My number one goal for my personal goals is to keep in good health. To achieve that I try to work out five days a week. I like to run, rock climb, lift weights and play any game. I had a goal to be able to do 100 pushups in one day and I achieved that. I also applied online to do modeling so that will help keep me motivated and going to the gym.

Other personal goals I have include helping out in my community, I want to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity like I have done in the past and do something to get rid of the graphiti in my neighbourhood (unless it is cool art). I also want to learn how to pick locks, tie knots and do a backflip.

My Favourite Sustainable and Disruptive Technologies

My favorite disruptive technology is cars. There is a lot of oil for gasoline but it is obviously limited and causes a lot of pollution. People are always talking about the downside of cars but they never laud the great convenience and benefit of them because we take them for granted. The reason cars are not sustainable is that the level of pollution is too high and the supply of gasoline is limited. Perhaps with the introduction of new fuels

My favorite technology that is sustainable that I use is email. Although it is unkown if computers are sustainable the cost of sending an email is exponentially less than sending letter mail.

My IS Day

In any given day I will use a number of social media tools. Youtube, twitter, gmail, facebook etc. In this post I will be detailing the 5 components of the IS that are used in facebook.
Hardware: The hardware used is my computer and the servers setup by the facebook staff.
Software: The software is the website that facebook uses and the applications that private software developers have made to work within facebook.
Data: The data is information that I or other users have uploaded or published on the website.

Rules: Facebook has privacy policies and user agreements as well as certain functions like posting, walls, videos, groups, events. This allows users to work within the rules of the site. Although facebook tends to be difficult to navigate possibly because they want more page views and advertising revenue.
People: There are over 100 million people that use facebook but for the most part the people I interact with are friends and family.
Add me on facebook!

Business Leaders I Admire

This post is about three business leaders that I admire.

First is Mark Cuban because he has an interesting perspective on business and isn't afraid to challenge common opinion. He was the most successful person from the dot com boom and owns the Mavericks and is really into television and technology business. This is his blog http://blogmaverick.com/

Another business leader that I like to follow goes by the alias Quadszilla. He works in search engine optimization. I think his blog/site is one of the reason that I've chosen to study what I do. Although his political opinions are mostly uninformed he is very knowledgable about search and web revenue generation. He is not afraid to talk about how what everything Google does is not altruistic or how large sections of the internet are dedicated to pornography. This is his website http://seoblackhat.com/

Finally another business leader that I admire is Tim Ferriss. Although his motives often seem intrusive or selfish he is really good at teaching us to think differently about things that people often take for granted. He is also not afraid to ask for what he wants out of life and is highly motivated by trying things and self improvement. This is his blog http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/

My Education & Achievements

The first school I went to was central public in Grimsby Ontario. In grade 6 I went to Lakeview for enrichment.

Halfway through grade 7 my family traveled to New Zealand and we spent a year there.

When I finished public school I went to Highschool at Grimsby Secondary.

After I graduated from High School I went to University at Waterloo. I studied English and then switched Majors to Theatre and completed a 3 year undergrad program.

After that I studied insurance but found it really boring and didn't like it.

Then I moved to Vancouver and worked for the health care sector and traveled back to Toronto and worked at U of T. Now I study e-commerce at Sheridan and that's why I'm writing this blog.

My Community Involvement

Recently I have been involved volunteering at the King Tut Exhibit at the AGO gallery in Toronto. I also made a training video for Community Care of West Niagara. When I was 19, myself and a group of 10 other teens raised $35,000 to build a home in Jamaica and flew there for two weeks and helped build the home with Habitat for Humanity.
